Late email start this week

This week was a tricky one with Brandan out of town on vacation and with me in Vegas for my fighter, Kamuela Kirk, who’s opening the UFC 290 card. The podcast made it up late Thursday night (solo), and the newsletter is out later than I’d like, but we did it!

Weekly Recap

Last week’s UFC was a wild one. We saw Guram Kutateladze lose as a -700 favorite, but what was even crazier, was seeing him being taken down as easily as he was. This was the man who defended Gamrot’s wrestling beautifully! We also saw Mellisa Gatto and Bruno Ferreira lose in fights they were both decent favorites in

Brandan and BKFC pulled through!

Although the UFC was a tough one, Brandan did a great job with BKFC, and people won with his picks!

This Week’s Undercard Fight of the Week

Shannon Ross vs Jesus Aguilar (-145)

I am not wowed by Ross. I think he’s mediocre at best and I don’t really see how he beats people. He moves around like he knows how to strike, but doesn’t really do anything with it. He’s also not very big, even for FW.

After watching Ross, I was certain anyone would kill Ross. Then I watched Aguilar. Aguilar is short and stocky and makes bad wrestling decisions, but I think he’ll find a way to win. He throws hard shots—even if they’re not great punches—they have to be respected. And Aguilar will shoot again and again. Plus he has a good guillotine.

Prediction: Aguilar for the win.

Landmine of the week

There are quite a few possible landmines this week, but Yazmin Jauregui vs Denise Gomes is a tricky one. Yazmin is the favorite due to her volume and cardio (and she’s good), but Gomes is tough, and down to fight. With Yazmin’s chin popping up as much as it does, and with Gomes’s power, be careful. We’ve seen quite a few women’s fights go to big dogs lately.
